Mission Statement

To enhance the accepted standards of building, zoning and development for the unincorporated area of Whitfield County by meeting or exceeding the following goals:

• Continue cooperation and coordination with other government agencies and departments
• Work directly with project managers in overseeing the jail and courthouse construction projects
• Create a land use manual that will assist citizens in the development of property
• Amend the Zoning Ordinance to better reflect the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of Whitfield County
• Work toward converting existing database files into a relational database (based on parcel number) which can also be accessed by other agencies and departments
• Create a process whereby final plat review is overseen by the county engineer
• Offer each employee the opportunity to receive training and education in all aspects of zoning, building inspection, development, and soil erosion control
• Coordinate with the county manager in establishing a system whereby employee promotions are connected to training and certification
• Reconcile customer accounts for water usage and billing for Whitfield Utility
