Mission Statement

The mission of the Whitfield County Information Technologies Department is to provide efficient and cost-effective access to information through the use of computer and networking technologies in support of our customers. Our customer base consists of the Board of Commissioners, elected officials, all county departments and the general public. We will collaborate with our customers to provide solutions to their changing technical and informational needs.

About Information Technology

The Whitfield County Information Technologic has made great strides since it came into existence in June of 2000. From total nonexistence to having every Whitfield County Building linked with Fiber Optic Cabling. Most County Offices are now networked and fully supported by the Information Technology Department. Some of the services provided are: County Government email for County Officials and Employees, a self-supported IP Telephone system for County Offices (saving taxpayers thousands of dollars in telephone service charges), Video Arraignment for savings on the cost of prisoner transport and providing safety for the public and an official County Web site to better inform the citizens of Whitfield County as well as promoting our county around the world.

Additional Technological Developments include online property tax and tax parcel information as well as a comprehensive GIS (Geographic Information System). Through this system many service are made available to the general public and the real estate professional and engineering community. As technology advances we are striving to keep Whitfield County on the leading edge.

Our current staff is well trained, experienced and qualified. Staff certifications include: CCA, MCDBA, MCSE, MCDST, MCP, MOUS, and CompTIA A+. In addition to current certifications, we are striving to improve our quality and efficiency of service by continuing to improve our skill through training and certification programs.
